eCommerce is King

Peter’s presentation: WP + eCommerce

How many years have you used WordPress? 6

I look forward to speaking because: I’m passionate about helping purpose-driven businesses make more money.

Favorite WordPress Project: The one I’m working on…. (thanks for sharing Peter, ha!)

In the future, I see WordPress being used for App development

WordPress has changed the way I…make pasta. (sorry, kept drawing a blank on this one).

Best real-life camping story: I was in the CO mountains peaking a 14,000 footer and decided to lug along several cans of Campbells soup during the 5 day expedition, much to my fellow hikers disliking… Let’s just say that by day 4 I was the only one not eating stale bagels 🙂

Meet Ron – A User Experience (UX) Specialist

Ron’s presentation: Wordpress UX Design Solutions

How many years have you used WordPress? 3

I look forward to speaking because: I’m passionate about UX and Wordpress is one of those great tools that can make our (the business, designers, developers and users) lives easier. I believe if we build a website (or anything) it needs to meet the needs of the potential users and the business strategy needs.  I look forward to sharing how to accomplish just that from a UX perspective.

Favorite WordPress Project: I really have enjoyed all of them. My favorite part of any project is helping my clients understand how to present user facing and administration parts of their WordPress website.  Again, its all about merging the business needs and user needs.

In the future, I see WordPress being used for enterprise solutions. I would like for corporations to adopt more open source solutions like WordPress.

WordPress has changed the way I think about building websites. I can build a website with anything, but WordPress gets it started faster.

Best real-life camping story: I was on my way back from Colorado and decided to set up camp in south Kansas.  In the middle of the night, I woke up to what sounded like a pack of coyotes. I wasn’t interested in introducing any new meat into the circle of life, so I slept the rest of the night in my car.

Feel Multi Talented with Eric Juden

Eric’s presentation: How to Use Multisite

How many years have you used WordPress? 4

I look forward to speaking because: not many people are familiar with WordPress Multisite and it’s uses.

Favorite WordPress Project: setting up WordPress as a CMS for Maryville University. I learned a lot along the way about WordPress and using hooks & filters in WordPress.

In the future, I see WordPress being used for powering an entire company’s online presence: website, CRM, project management, etc

WordPress has changed the way I look at my development projects. The first question I ask is, “Can it be done with WordPress?”

Best real-life camping story: Hiking for 10 days through the Rocky Mountains in New Mexico with some of my fellow Scouters at Philmont. We hiked somewhere in the neighborhood of 90-100 miles. We got to climb up Mt. Baldy and the Tooth of Time. I can also remember going through a section of the trail that had been burned from a forest fire.

Get “Hooked” on Randy

Randy’s presentation: Hooks & Filters

How many years have you used WordPress? 4.5

I look forward to speaking because: hooks & filters make it possible to manipulate WordPress Core, Themes & Plugins. Once you grasp the concepts (of hooks and filters) you really can make WordPress do anything!

Favorite WordPress Project: My core theme. I’ve been working on it since 2008 and it’s finally starting to become a fairly decent framework. Though I will admit it has a long way to go!

In the future, I see WordPress being used for a code library, a CMS, & yet it will always be able to hold just a simple website.

WordPress has changed the way I interact with clients. Now I can hand off the site & don’t have to worry about mundane updates that in the past only a developer could do.

Best real-life camping story: My friends and I almost started a forest fire. In the dry heat of Northern California it was not a good thing. It took us almost 24hrs of hiking water from the lake to keep the secondary fires out while the main died down! Lesson learned :p

Inspiring through WordPress Design

Casara’s presentation:  Design Envy – The Possibilities of WordPress

How many years have you used WordPress?  3

I look forward to speaking because: I hope to inspire people and show them how a WordPress site can actually look nothing like WordPress

Favorite WordPress Project: I’m currently working on a site for the American Board for Optometry. I’m excited about it because we’re developing it as a gateway for optometrists that has lots of extra functionality added in.

In the future, I see WordPress being used for every website that needs content management

WordPress has changed the way I approach a web development pitch

Best real-life camping story: When I was 12, we had a huge mud fight while hiking and then went back to camp as mud monsters!
